There are many mountain bike routes with a wide variety of paths and trails to suit all physical and technical levels. An example would be the route from El Peso to the Asalto del Cura. It is a circular route about 23 km in length with around 380 metres of elevation gain. There are many trails that leave and arrive at this route which can be added to it, increasing the fun and the physical and technical difficulty.
For road cycling there are many options to enjoy our scenic roads and scarce traffic. You can cycle to the area of the Campo de Gibraltar, the Costa del Sol or the Serrania de Ronda. One of the most beautiful and complete routes goes down to Casares and Estepona on the Costa del Sol and then climbs up to Los Reales peak, the highest in Sierra Bermeja, and into the Genal Valley passing through the villages of Jubrique and Algatocín before returning to Gaucín. This route is about 88 km long and has more than 2000 of positive elevation gain.
As for Trail Running or Mountain Races in Gaucín there are plenty of paths and trails that allow you to do from short routes of 7 km to routes of more than 50 km.
The Gaucín Trail race is just one example. Held in September, it is about 16 km long with about 800 meters of elevation gain.
